In January 2011, Russian Railways shipped a total of 97 million tons. The shipments included 25.6 million tons of coal, 10.5 million tons of coke, 22 million tons of petroleum products, 8.6 million tons of iron and manganese ores, 6.3 million tons of ferrous metals, 4,2 million tones of chemicals and fertilizers, 1.5 million tons of cement, 3.3 million tons of timber cargo, 1.2 million tons of grain and milling, 9.3 million tones of building materials, 2.1 million tons of non-ferrous ores and sulfur raw materials, 2.4 million tons of chemicals and soda, 2 million tons of industrial raw materials and molding materials and 1.3 million tons of container cargo.

Turnover from cargo in January was 170.9 billion ton-kilometers.
