VR logistics services merged
VR has merged its logistics operations. The new VR Logistics offers a wide range of transport and logistics services to rail and road customers. The logistics merge is part of VR Group's extensive restructuring programme which focuses at first on improving the efficiency of logistics operations.
All VR Group logistics functions together form VR Logistics division. The division includes VR Cargo, Transpoint Oy Ab, Transpoint Cargo Oy and Transpoint International companies.
"The aim of the reform is to improve customer service and also improve our operational efficiency", says the Senior Vice President and director of VR Logistics Erik Söderholm.
The sale of logistics products and services is brought under one management.
"We have excellent sales personnel who handle our daily activities. Now we can have one person take responsibility for their management," Söderholm says.
Martti Koskinen started as sales and marketing director in September. He says the reform provides many opportunities to improve operations.
"It is easier for management to monitor and compare business activities when they all have a common mode of operation. Risk management improves when contracts, tender templates and products are clearly defined. Close cooperation between sales and production can improve planning and production capacity control", Koskinen says.
The organizational restructuring does not bring immediate changes to customer relations. Current cooperation including contact persons remains unchanged. Logistics management and sales personnel continue to a large extent in their current functions.
The purpose of the restructuring is to organize sales as logically as possible from a customer's point of view. Customers will continue to have a contact person with whom they can discuss comprehensive service solutions by road or rail or other logistics services offered by the Group.
